Scars ~ Part 40 ~ FINAL PART

Arnav checked himself and Khushi into a room in the hotel, screw drinks. He just wanted to be with his Khushi now. He undid the buttons of his suit faster than anything and pulled all his clothes off. Once out of everything other than his boxers, Arnav grabbed hold of Khushi who had also made light work of her clothes and pushed her down onto the bed and came over her. Arnav attacked her lips and he fumbled with her bra.
Khushi let her hands move down to Arnav’s member who was already hard and pushed his boxers away. Arnav did the same with Khushi’s underwear and threw it across the room.

“God it’s been too long.”

“It has…”

“I’m going to fu*k the daylights out of you baby.”

“Please do.”

Arnav smiled and kissed Khushi’s neck. This felt right, being here with her. He carried on kissing her neck, all the while touching her breasts. He trailed his kisses down her torso. His hands were one step ahead of him and were playing with her. Soon arnav’s lips found their destination and he kissed Khushi down there. She let out a soft moan as her fingers locked into his hair, pulling him further into herself.

“Ah Arnav…”

He pulled himself away slightly and looked into her eyes.

“You like it when I eat you out don’t you baby.”

Khushi blushed a deep shade of red and hid her face with her hands.
Arnav smirked and went back to what he was doing. His fingers played with her while his tongue caused havoc within her. Khushi wrapped her legs around Arnav’s neck, bringing him closer to herself. Her hips arched up, letting his tongue dig in deeper.

“Arnav, I can’t…”

He pulled away and positioned himself on top of her. He asked her for permission with his eyes and Khushi smiled and she pulled him into herself.

Arnav positioned himself on top and he got ready to enter.

“I love you Khushi.”

“I love you too…”

“Thank you, for everything. For being the best wife a man could ask for. Thank you for having faith in me when I didn’t have faith in myself, and for staying by my side.”

“I’ll always be by your side. No matter what.”

Arnav placed a passionate kiss on her lips as he lowered himself in. Khushi gasped as she let her legs wrap around his waist. No matter how many times they did it, it always felt like the first time. This was how things were, and this is how they were meant to be.

~ Two years later ~

“I can’t believe I’m finally going to graduate from college.”

“You’re finally living your dream out.”

“My dreams came true when you accepted me as your wife.”

Arnav smiled and placed a kiss on Khushi’s lips.

“I’m so proud of you baby. Hey I got something for you?”

“You did?”

Arnav nodded as he went over to his wardrobe and pulled out a box wrapped in gold paper. He handed it over to Khushi.

“You didn’t need to get me anything!”

“I know, but I thought I may as well.”

Khushi opened the box box to reveal a midnight blue sari. It was fairly simple, but the border was heavy and was gold. The blouse too was gold and extremely heavy.

“Arnav… It’s gorgeous!”

“It’s from our winter range. Thought you could model it for us so people could get the first look.”

“Well that’s very thoughtful of you.”

“There’s something under the sari for the after party.”

Khushi shook her head and laughed. She carefully took the sari out of the box and put it down onto the bed. Underneath was a black, silky gown.

“Oh Arnav… This is gorgeous!”

“This one I had designed especially for you.”

“I love it!!”

“There’s one more. At the bottom there’s something for the after after party.”

“What after after party?”

Arnav smirked and pulled Khushi into his arms.

“You know, the party me and you are attending.”

“I wasn’t aware we were attending such party.”

“Well we are so I suggest you have a look at what I’ve got for you to wear.”

Khushi blushed and went back to the box. Carefully, she removed the black gown, which she now realised had slight sparkles. She put it down onto the bed and there, underneath was a pair of red panties and a red lacy bra.

“D’you like it?”

“Of course I do!”

“So we’re definitely partying with you in those?”

Khushi threw Arnav a playful smile and went to get dressed.

*****

“Mrs Khushi Singh Raizada, please come and collect your diploma.”

Khushi walked across the stage in her graduation rope and cap with her sari Arnav had gifted her on underneath. She walked across the stage and looked out to see her family cheering for her. She saw her husband, her biggest fan whooping and clapping as loudly as he could. There was Anjali di with her 1 year old, just beaming up at her. Payal and Akash sat together, glowing with pride. And then there was her Mausaji. He was sat right at the front with a tear in his eye. Tear of happiness that his girl had finally managed to achieve what she had wanted to achieve. Garima had been invited, but she’d declined. After the divorce things had gotten slightly better between Khushi and Garima, however, not a lot. But Khushi didn’t care. If her aunt didn’t care for her, then she wasn’t going to get down over it. There were plenty of people in her life that did love her and did care for her.

She gave a little wave to them all and then carried on to collect her diploma and then went on to join her friends on the other side of the stage.

Lavanya hugged Khushi and Raj gave her a high five.

“Can you believe we’ve done it?”

“We’ve finally done it!”

Somewhere along the lines, Tom and Amrita were lost. After they’d broken up, things just hadn’t been the same for the group and slowly they’d become distant from Khushi, La and Raj. However, this change hadn’t affected the friendship between the three of them. They’d stuck it out together and now they were victorious coming out at the other end.
Slowly but surely, their whole graduating class joined them on the other side of the stage. When everyone had joined them, there was last short speech and then they threw their hats up, they’d made it.

*****

“Right I’m going to get the first round of drinks in. What’s everyone drinking?”

“I’ll have a vodka on the rocks.” Arnav said to Raj with a nod.

“Champaign for me please.” Replied Lavanya.

“I’ll just have a lemonade.” Said Khushi.

“Oh cmon Khush, it’s graduation night, one drink?”

Khushi shook her head and cuddled closer to Arnav. She looked around the large banquet hall and smiled to see all her classmates enjoying themselves.

“It’s graduation night, I want to be able to remember everything clearly. I just don’t want to be tipsy.”

“In that case, I’ll just have a coke.”

“Arnav, are you sure?”

“It’s my wife’s graduation. I don’t want to get hammered.”

Raj nodded and went to get the drinks, while Lavanya, Arnav and Khushi carried on talking.

“So now that we’ve graduated, when are you and Raj thinking of getting married?”

“We were thinking of maybe in July?”

Somewhere over the course of the two years, Raj and Lavanya had realised that they had feelings for each other that was more than friends. It had taken them both a long time to admit it, but since they had, things hadn’t been better. And soon, they were to get married!

Before much could be discussed, Raj returned with the drinks and handed everyone their orders.

“I love your gown Khushi, where’s it from?”

“AR.”

“I shouldn’t have bothered asking.”

Lavanya laughed and she slowly began to drink her drink. Arnav took Khushi’s hand into his. They looked around the room. Everyone was enjoying themselves, having a drink or dancing.

“Wanna dance?” Arnav whispered into Khushi’s ear.

“I thought you’d never ask.”

Arnav helped Khushi to her feet and they made their way over to the dance floor. The music was soft and Arnav and Khushi swayed slowly.

“You really do look amazing tonight baby.”

“You don’t look half bad yourself Raizada.”

“Are you enjoying yourself?”

“Of course. Today’s been one of the best days ever.”

“Well the night is still young, sure I could find a way to make even better for you.”

Khushi blushed a deep shade of red. The music picked up and Arnav began to twirl her. They danced as though they were the only two people in the world. He held her close and looked into her eyes as they danced slowly in time with the music. He moved in to her ever so slightly and Khushi looked ever so slightly confused until she realised. She moved into him too until their lips touched ever so slightly. Khushi pulled away though.

“What’s wrong?”

“There’s too many people here.”

“Shall we go upstairs?”

“Upstairs?”

“Start our after after party early?”

“Did you book us a room?”

“Of course I did.”

Khushi blushed and placed a peck on Arnav’s cheek.

“Can we go up in a bit? I want to spend a little bit more time with Lavanya and Raj.

“We can do whatever you like babe. It’s your night after all.”

They carried on dancing until the song ended and Arnav took Khushi’s hand so that they could go back to La and Raj. However as they were approaching them, Khushi changed her mind.

“What’s wrong?”

“Let’s go upstairs.”

“Khushi…”

“No I want to.”

*****

Arnav opened the door to the room that he had booked out for himself and Khushi. Khushi looked around and gasped.

The room was decorated with rose petals. There were petals all over the floor and all over the bed. Little tea lights were also scattered all over the room.

“Arnav…”

Arnav moved into Khushi and lifted her chin and kissed her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her in close to himself. Khushi let her hands move under his suit jacket and placed them on his chest.

“Tonight has been the best.”

“And it’s not over yet baby.”

Arnav slipped the gown off of Khushi’s shoulders. The silky material trailed down her body and pooled around her heels on the floor. Arnav took a step back and his breath caught in his throat. She was wearing the red lacy lingerie he had gifted her and she looked divine.

“Hold on a second.”

Khushi looked up, her eyebrows raised in question.
Arnav moved over to the little speaker and clicked it on. The slow, calming introduction of ‘Pyaar De’ came on. Khushi bit her lip and Arnav made his way back to her. As he was approaching, he shrugged out of his clothes, letting it all fall anywhere.

Arnav lifted Khushi off the floor, and touched his lips to hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kept them like that as he settled them both down on to the bed. Arnav removed her hands from around his neck and he slowly worked down her body, placing light kisses as he went.

*Pyaar de, mujhe tu pyaar de…*

Arnav unclipped her bra and slowly pulled her panties away from her body and freed himself of his own underwear.

*Zara nazdeek tu, aane de…*

“I love you baby.”

“I love you too jaan.”

Arnav rested his lips on Khushi’s once more and he positioned himself between her legs. He pushed himself into her and Khushi wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer to herself.

“Ahh.”

Arnav locked his fingers into Khushi’s as he slowly penetrated her body with his length.
The soft melody of the song carried on playing, all the while their soft moans of pleasure also filled the room.

Khushi slowly opened her eyes to find Arnav too was opening his eyes slightly. She looked at her strong, loving husband making love to her and tightened her legs around him. She couldn’t help but think back to a time when she thought it would be impossible for her to be where she was now.

She’d managed to live her dream and graduated from college and her husband loved her, every inch of her, every little flaw, every little perk.
Her mind flew back to those days over 3 years ago and couldn’t help but smile. She turned her head slightly and looked at her hand locked with Arnav’s and her gaze dropped slightly to her wrist. Feint scars were still present, battle scars, but they were fading every day. She looked back to Arnav and smiled and shut her eyes.

The physical scars were fading and the mental scars had long faded now and that was all a result of Arnav’s love.
Because true love could heal any scar…

Scars ~ Part 39

“Your honour, as you can see, Mr Raizada had every reason to carry out the act that he has been accused of. Only a few weeks before the incident at Mr Raizada was defamed by Miss Kapoor in a national newspaper. Surely if someone did that to you, you would want to get revenge. So that’s exactly what the accused did. He tried to get revenge and teach Miss Kapoor a lesson so that she never messed with him again.”

It had been a long a grueling day. Time and time again Arnav’s lawyers points against Sheetal were being dismissed, he was constantly being made to feel like a fiend. Slowly, Arnav was losing any hope of proving his innocence. He looked over to where Khushi was sitting. She was sat with her head still held high because she had faith in her husband. A week had passed since that incident had taken place and Khushi had remained positive and she kept Arnav’s hopes high. She took care of him, she kept him away from the glares he was getting, and she made sure that now more than ever her husband knew that she loved him very much.

Arnav appreciated the efforts that his lawyer was making, and more than appreciated the effort that Khushi was making, but he couldn’t but feel pessimistic.

Sheetal’s lawyer was not done with his piece yet.

“Your honour, I would like to call upon one of the security guards who were on scene after the incident took place.”

“Proceed.”

“I would like to call Mr Milan Sharma to the witness box.”

The security guard took the stand and was put under oath. He looked to Arnav, and you could tell there was a lot of discomfort.

“Mr Sharma, when you and your partner heard Miss Kapoor scream, you rushed up to ASR’s office, yes?”

“Yes we did.”

“And what did you see when you got there.”

“Erm… Sir… Sir was on top of ma’am.”

“If you hadn’t heard her scream, and if you were to walk in on something like that, would you believe that very intimate things were going on.”

“Yes.”

“When you walked into the room, did Mr Raizada have his hands on Miss Kapoor?”

Milan looked over to Arnav, he was feeling very tense and he could see Arnav’s face falling, his expressions becoming graver as every moment passed.

“Please answer the question. When you walked into the room, did Mr Raizada have his hands on Miss Kapoor?”

“Yes he did.”

“Where?”

“I… I can’t be sure.”

“What did it seem like to you?”

“I’m not sure.”

“You’re lying. Tell us, where was his hand.”

“He was touching her down there.”

“Thank you that is all we need from you. Your honour no further questioning for the witness. Your honour, what further evidence do we need? The witness found the defendant and the victim in a very compromising situation, with Mr Raizada on top and his hands between her legs? Does that or does that not tell you his intentions.”

Singhania got up at this point.

“Your honour, I have some questions for the witness.”

“Proceed.”

“Mr Sharma, when you pulled Mr Raizada off of Miss Kapoor, would you say he struggled in any way?”

“No.”

“When you pulled him off, was there any sign of arousal from his part?”

“I don’t think so.”

“So you are saying that Mr Raizada had no sign of an erection?”

“No he did not.”

“Thank you, your honour no further questioning. Your honour and members of the jury, I would like to use this information to point out that this is in support of my client. If he had the intention to rape the victim, he wouldn’t have been so willing and the security guards would have needed a lot more force to get him off of her. Mr Raizada is not a small man, if he acted with force, they would have struggled. Furthermore, the defendant showed zero sign of arousal. I believe that this says a lot. I’m sure any male in the room will agree with me that even the slightest of intimacy with a woman can lead to arousal, it’s hard to keep it down. Yet, Mr Raizadda showed zero arousal. This suggests that he didn’t have an interest in Miss Kapoor like that. If he did and if his intentions were to rape her, then surely if he was really on top of her like that and if he had his hand between her legs, he would have shown some sign of arousal. That is all i have to say.”

Arnav took in what was said by both lawyers and he had to agree Singhania did have a point. He thought of all of his interactions with Khushi, how it really didn’t take much at all to get it up. Even after a few little kisses, he’d be ready to go. If it were he and Khushi in the situation, then Arnav knew that by the time anyone had walked in on them he would have had a full erection going.

The battle between the lawyers continued until they both had nothing more to say.

The conclusion of the battle was near, the jury were debating away, whilst everyone else waited for the verdict. It was then Aman got the call.

“Mr Mathur, the video footage that you requested has finally been cleared and we can finally give it to you.”

“Really? Thank you so much! Do you think you would be able to send me a copy within the next 10 minutes?”

“Yes we can.”

“Thank you so much, this will really help us!”

Aman disconnected the call and went to find Aranv’s lawyer.

“The security tape company just called me and they have clearing for the footage. They’re sending it over to me right now!”

“Really?! Let me quickly go and see if we will be able to submit the footage before the final verdict. It’s late but we can hope they will review it.”

“Don’t we need to see it first, just to check that it will work in Arnav’s benefit?”

“We both know and believe that Arnav couldn’t have done what he is being accused of. That tape will show that it was her and not him.”

“Right, right.”

*****

“After reviewing last minute evidence that has come through and after hearing  what all lawyers and witnesses have had to say, we find the defendant… Not guilty of attempted rape.”

Khushi let out a sigh of relief, she always knew her husband was innocent and know the whole world would know.

Arnav couldn’t believe that this was happening, he couldn’t believe that for once the truth had come out when and as it needed to. He thanks his lucky stars that the video footage was released in time. The security company had been adamant that they wouldn’t be able to release the footage, that it was against company policy. Yet Aman and Singhania had done everything in their power to make sure that they could get it. And it had worked, they had gotten the tape and it had done it’s job in making sure that Arnav was proved innocent.

Court was adjourned and everyone begun to file out. Sheetal looked lethal, but she didn’t have much time to send too many death stares because a pair of policewomen were now carting her away.

*****

“This calls for a celebration don’t you think?”

“Yes, I think we need to go for a couple of drinks.”

Arnav had his Khushi on his arm and he had his best friend and lawyer who fought the world to prove his innocence, how could he not take them for a couple of drinks.

The group of 4 got into Aman’s car and made their way to a hotel. Aman and Singhania climbed into the front, talking about how glad they were with the way that things had worked out.

In the back of the car, Arnav held Khushi ever so close to himself. With the stress of the hearing, he had found it hard to get close to his wife. He’d either been too distracted to want to get close, or he had felt guilty for what he was putting her through. They hadn’t had sex since the night that everything had happened. But now, all Arnav wanted to do was get as close to Khushi as he possibly could.

Arnav took hold of Khushi’s hands and held onto her as she hid her face in his chest. After all that stress, it was good to have her husband close to her. Arnav slipped his finger under Khushi’s chin and lifted it up to him and he took her lips between his. They shared a short but passionate kiss. Khushi moved back slowly, aware that they had company, but Arnav didn’t care. He moved back in and kissed her again, deeply, touching the sides of her breasts. This caused Khushi to moan out.

This caught Aman’s attention.

“Ahem.”

Arnav and Khushi broke away, but Arnav kept himself close.

“We’re going to be at the hotel in a few moments, can you guys hold off until then?”

Khushi blushed a deep shade of red and buried her face in Arnav’s chest once more. Arnav smirked as he reposnded.

“I’ll try mate.”

Scars ~ Part 38

“ASR’s been arrested…”

Khushi felt all the blood drain out of her body.

“What are you saying?”

“Arnav is being held in police custody right now and he has asked me to call you and let you know so you don’t worry.”

“I don’t understand.”

“He’s told me not to say anything more and that when he gets home, he’ll tell you everything himself. But right now, he’s in custody, his lawyer is on his way down here and we shall try and get ASR out as soon as we can.”

“I…”

“Please don’t worry, we’ll get it all sorted and we’ll get him back to you as soon as we can.”

Khushi disconnected the call and put her phone down. What on Earth!? How could this happen. Slowly lowering herself onto the sofa, Khushi tried to make sense of what she had just been told. Surely, she must have misunderstood? Arnav, in prison?

*****

It was nearing 4am when Khushi heard their bedroom door slowly open. Jumping to her feet, Khushi rushed over to the door. Arnav walked into the room as quietly as he could, thinking that Khushi must have fallen asleep already. Before he could shut the door, Khushi rushed into his arms.

“Hey you.”

“Arnav…”

“Why are you still awake baby?”

“How could I sleep?”

“Let me freshen up and then we can go to sleep.”

“Arnav please, tell me what happened.”

“I know you need to know but please can we talk about it in the morning, I really just want to get into bed with you right now.”

Khushi understood, she could see the deep lines in his face, how tired his eyes looked. He needed rest and he needed her. The questions could wait until tomorrow.

Arnav went into the bathroom and Khushi quickly rushed over to the mirror to make sure she looked nice. Her husband needed her, now more than ever, and she knew how she needed to ease his tensions.

Once in the bathroom, Arnav got out of his clothes, and stepped under the warm water of his shower. It felt so good to be out of his clothes, he’d been in them for so long, he’d started to feel suffocated. Whilst washing himself, Arnav reflected over the events of the day. Sheetal had done as she’d promised, she’d got him, and she’d got him good. Anger coursed through body, and Arnav punched the wall. How could this have happened, how had he let this happen. Everything was in jeopardy now, everything he’d worked for, everything he’d earned. His name, his respect, everything. And then there was Khushi. They had spent so much time building their relationship, establishing a level of trust. Now due to Sheetal, his relationship with Khushi maybe in trouble.

Arnav finished his shower and got out of the bathroom. Walking into the bedroom, he found his wife waiting for him in bed. Did he really believe that Khushi would have gone to sleep knowing that he was troubled. Smirking, Arnav dropped the towel and walked towards his bed. He didn’t care that his penis was hardening with every step he took towards the bed, he didn’t care that he was letting Khushi see just how much she affected him without ever doing anything. He cared that she was there, that she was there for him.

Khushi crawled forwards to the edge of the bed and raised her arms. Arnav fell straight into them, holding Khushi close. This was all he needed right now, everything with Sheetal could wait until tomorrow. Right now, he needed his wife, he needed his Khushi. He let his lips, find hers, and he moved into Khushi, making her move back towards the centre of the bed. Arnav’s hands found the hem of Khushi’s nightdress and he pulled it away from her body. He didn’t want to play it slow, he didn’t want to be patient. Glad to find that she had decided not to bother with any underwear, he grabbed hold of one of her breasts and kneaded it with his palms. Khushi moaned against his mouth, her hands running down his body to take his member into her hands. He was hard, ridiculously hard.

Arnav pushed Khushi onto her back and placed himself over her body. This wasn’t how he usually played it, he usually liked to take the time to love her body, to kiss every inch of her, to tease her, but right now, he needed one thing, and even if that seemed a little crazy or messed up, he didn’t care. He just needed sex with his wife. He needed to have her, to know she was his and always would be. It was that simple.

*****

“Arnav, Aman ji’s on the phone.”

Arnav rolled his eyes without opening them, groaned and then got up slowly. He opened his eyes to find Khushi stood by the edge of the bed, fully dressed, holding the phone out to him. Taking the phone off her, Arnav made a mental note to take every scrap of clothing of Khushi’s body the moment he got off the phone.

“What is it Aman?”

“I’m really sorry to be calling so early, but your lawyer really needs to see you.”

“Can’t it wait?”

“The sooner we get this sorted, the better. If we leave it too long, we risk the media getting whiff of this and we really can’t afford for that to happen.”

“What time does he want to see me?”

“Half 9.”

Arnav looked up at the clock, it was just passing 7:15.

“Alright, where does he want to meet?”

“I offered my office at my house or we could go to his office?”

“I’d much rather do it at your house.”

“That’s fine by me, I’ll see you in a bit.”

“Yeah.”

“ASR, it’s going to be okay, we all know you’d never do what she’s accusing you of.”

Arnav thanked Aman for his support and then disconnected the call. He really didn’t want to be talking about this right now. The moment he put the phone down, he realised though that he would need to talk about it, he needed to tell Khushi. She may not have pressed the matter last night, but right now, she was standing by the side of the bed, biting her nails, waiting for him to tell her what was going on.

Arnav extended his arm out to Khushi and she took his hand. Pulling her towards the bed, he got her to sit down and then shuffled closer to her. He took a deep breath and then looked into her eyes. They were filled with worry. Arnav looked away, feeling ashamed that he was doing this to her.

“Sheetal… She’s…”

Khushi held Arnav’s hand tightly, urging him to go on.

“She’s accusing me of attempting to rape her.”

Khushi dropped Arnav’s hand, her eyes wide with shock.

“She WHAT?”

“I swear to you Khush, I didn’t.”

“No, no, I believe that you’d never even think about doing something as ghastly as that but…”

Arnav explained the events of yesterday, how it all began, what had gone down. He told her everything, he didn’t leave any details out, she deserved to know the truth, the whole truth.

Khushi pulled Arnav close to herself and she just held him. How could someone be that low? Did Sheetal honestly have no shame.

“You do believe me, don’t you?”

“Of course I do. She’s deranged and she’s jealous. This will all be over before you even know it.”

“But it’s my word against hers, and people always believe the woman in cases like this.”

She could feel he was getting scared now, he was holding her more tightly, his breathing shallow. Khushi pulled herself away slightly and she kissed his lips lightly, with more meaning than ever before.

“But people know you Arnav, people respect you. No one is going to be that stupid to believe her over you.”

“What happens if they don’t. They’ll throw me into prison, they’ll castrate me.”

Khushi looked at her husband, the man who was always so collected was a nervous wreck. She took him into her arms and held him close to herself.

“It’s going to be okay, we are going to get through this. We will find a way to get this sorted. It didn’t happen, nor were you trying to make it happen. They won’t find any proof. Nothing can happen if they can’t prove that you wanted to do anything to her.”

“Khushi what are we meant to do…”

“We hold our heads high and we fight this bi*ch for everything she’s worth and we win. We will win and we will destroy her.”

“Thank you for believing me, thank you for being here for me.”

“There’s nowhere else I would ever want to be.”

“But if you weren’t with me, I’d understand. After everything I put you through and now all this…”

“Shh, remember we said we would never talk about what happened before ever again.”

“We did but… I can’t forgive myself for it.”

“Well I have forgiven you.”

“I honestly don’t deserve you.”

“Maybe you don’t, but you’ve got me any way and we’re going to get through all this together.”

*****

“Are we going to win this case Singhania?”

“She doesn’t have any proof but neither do we. But that article in the newspaper she got published could be beneficial for us. We can use that to show the court that she is obsessed with you, that she’s trying to defame you.”

“But the article was written in her support, she made it seem like I’d made a move on her back then as well.”

“But she’d lied. She said she broke away from you and that she ended the party. But that was lies! All we have to do is get people from the party to tell us who actually ended the party, they will say you. Once they do that and people are aware that Sheetal lied, they will start questioning everything she’s been saying. Once that happens, she has a harder case to fight because how are people supposed to believe a liar.”

“That’s one way of looking at everything, but at the same time all this can be used against me. They could say that because she lied about all that I wanted to punish her or something and so I did what she’s accusing me of doing.”

“It is a tricky case, but we will fight it and we will win. We will prove your innocence and we’ll get her sent down for being a lying little bi*ch.”

Arnav looked to Aman.

“Aman what did the security company say about regarding the security footage from my office?”

“They said we can’t access it. It’s against company policy.

Arnav shook his head and buried his face in his hands. That footage was all they needed to prove his innocence. At this point, Aman looked up from the notes that they had.

“ASR, I think we just have to go for it. We all know you could never do what she’s accusing you of. The people of the jury know who you are, they don’t know anything about her. Once we start showing people that she’s a liar, her case will become so weak she may even admit the truth.”

“I really hope what you’re saying happens, because if it doesn’t work out, I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

“We’ll get through this, don’t you worry, we will make sure the whole world knows the truth.”

Scars ~ Part 37

“Arnav, I’ve got college so I’m leaving now.”

“What time will you come to the office? Do you and Raj not have the project to finish?”

“I think we’ll come in tomorrow.”

“But baby, I need to see you.”

“You’ll see me when I get home.”

“That’s not soon enough.”

Arnav pulled Khushi into his arms and kissed her lightly on the lips. Things had been going well. A couple of weeks had passed since the newspaper fiasco. Nothing had happened since, except for the fact that Khushi and Payal had found out that Shashi was filing for a divorce.

They broke apart and Khushi grabbed her bag and left the room. Once in the car, she couldn’t help but think about Shashi and Garima. Had she caused this? Was she the reason that they were ending their relationship after so many years?

*****

“Babuji, please, I understand why you are taking this step but…”

“Bitya, there is nothing more I can do. There are things which you do not know about, that are between your mother and I. It feels bad, but Payal, perhaps this is what needed to be done earlier.”

“Is there no way that you may change your decision?”

“No my dear child. And your mother agrees that perhaps this is the best thing to do.”

“But…”

“Somethings are inevitable. Somethings, just have to happen no matter what. And this is one of those things.”

*****

“Sir, I have your file.”

“Just leave it on my table Aman.”

Aman put the file down on the desk.

“Sir, you have a meeting with a Nishita Chauhan in 20 minutes.”

“Who?”

“I’m not sure, she’s not someone who’s name has come up before, but she said she wanted to speak t o you about some kind of big fashion show opportunity and the numbers she quoted were pretty grand,  so I scheduled an appointment in.”

“Alright, thank you Aman.”

Aman left and Arnav picked up his phone to find a text from Khushi saying that she missed him too. He put his phone down and went back to his laptop and started working again.

A little while later, a receptionist informed Arnav that his client had arrived and that she was waiting out in the hallway to be received.

“Can you tell Aman to show her up to my office?”

“Yes Sir.”

*****

“ASR?”

Arnav looked up to find he was looking at none other than Sheetal. Aman came running behind her. His face was a deep shade of red and he was clearly out of breath.

“I tried to stop her, but she came running up the moment I saw her.” Wheezed Aman.

“It’s okay, I’ll see what she has to say.”

Arnav gestured Aman to leave. Sheetal shut the door and walked over to the desk and sat down on it.

“What do you want Sheetal.”

“How dare you file a lawsuit against me?”

“How dare you frame me?”

“It’s called revenge Arnav.”

Arnav shook his head and laughed.

“I didn’t even do anything to you, what are you trying to get revenge for?”

“Choosing Khushi over me.”

“You just need to understand that I love her and not you okay, it’s not that big of a deal. One day you’ll meet someone as much as I love Khushi.”

“But I want you Raizada.”

Sheetal moved forward, her body inches away from Arnav. Arnav took a step back, increasing the distance between himself and Sheetal.

“Look, I don’t want to argue with you, but I honestly cannot deal with this. Please, just leave Sheetal.”

Sheetal looked straight into Arnav’s eyes, showing him that she wasn’t going to leave, that she wasn’t swaying by his pleas. She took her coat off and threw it to the side. Underneath she was wearing a short blue dress.

“Seriously, you need to leave.”

“No, let me show you what you can have.”

“I’m calling security…”

Sheetal pulled at the zip at the side of her dress, pulled it off of herself and let it land on the floor around her feet. She stepped out of the puddle which moments before was her dress.

“Are you really rejecting all this for Khushi?”

“Have some shame Sheetal. What the hell!”

She walked towards Arnav and he continued to move back until his back hit the wall.

“Shit.”

Sheetal carried on, closing in on Arnav until her body was on his. Arnav turned his face away from hers, and tried to push her away. With a vicelike grip, Sheetal took hold of Arnav’s collar, and pulled him onto herself, she lost her footing and landed on his desk, with Arnav on top of her.

Sheetal arched her body up, letting Arnav feel every single one of her soft curves. Arnav tried to move away from her, but she wouldn’t let him go. He looked to his side, and tried to reach for the button on the side of his desk to summon security. The button was too far and Arnav couldn’t reach.

Sheetal took hold of Arnav’s hand and placed it between her legs. Struggling still, Arnav tried to pull himself off of her, tried to move his hand away from her, but the more he tried to pull his hand away, the tighter she held onto him and the more she moved with his hand, so he was basically rubbing her down there.

“You’re a messed up sl*t.”

And that’s when Sheetal started screaming.

“HELP, HELP! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!”

Arnav froze, what? What the hell.

Security burst through the door, catching Arnav and Sheetal in this insanely compromising position.

“Please help me, he’s trying to force himself on me.”

“Wait what?”

The security guards came forward and pulled Arnav away from Sheetal, still unable to comprehend what was happening. Sheetal grabbed her coat off the floor and put it on, covering herself. She looked hysterical, playing the part of the victim so very convincingly.

“Please call the police. This was attempted rape.”

It finally clicked to Arnav what she was trying to do. His head snapped so that he was now facing her.

“Milan, Siddu, there’s nothing to report here, this bi*ch is trying to frame me.”

“No please! You have to call the police. I came here just to talk to him, apologise for everything, but he got mad and he tried to… Please…”

“Boys, she’s lying!”

The taller man of the two, Siddu, looked to his partner. This was highly uncomfortable for them.

“Sir… We have to call the police.”

“What the hell are you saying, take this little sl*t and throw her out of my building.”

“Sir…”

“I’m asking you to throw her out! I’m your boss. If the pair of you are defying me, I will have no choice but to sack you.”

At this point, Aman rushes into the room after hearing all the commotion.

“What the hell is going on here?”

“Your boss tried to rape me, and your security guards aren’t calling the police.”

Aman looked to ASR, shocked.

Milan looked up and decided what needed to be done here.

“Sir, I’m afraid that we will have to call the police. If we don’t and she files a complaint against us, we could lose our jobs.”

“But nothing happened here, if anything she was trying to force herself onto me and then made it look like it was the other way round to trap me!”

*****

“Mausaji, please, you have to reconsider, you and Maasi can’t get a divorce, you just can’t.”

“Bitya, I know how hard this must be for you to witness, and I know this isn’t the best for Payal either but…”

“If this is happening because of me, please just stop. I have my husband and I have my life and I am happy. Yes, it hurts that Maasi can’t accept me, but I’m over it, I’ve learnt how to deal with it and it doesn’t affect me any more.”

“I promise it isn’t because of you, this is something that should have happened a long time ago. Me and your Maasi, we have never been happy together. She doesn’t love me, she doesn’t see me as her husband. The only reason why we’ve been together so long is because I felt that perhaps, one day she would realise, but she hasn’t and I cant keep living like this.”

“But jiji…”

“Payal is a grown woman and she understands that this is for the best for everyone.”

“Surely, you guys can try.”

“Maybe we can, but to be honest with you Khushi, I’m not sure if I want to try any more. I don’t really see the point any more.”

“Well if this is what you want, and you are happy with this decision, then I will be by your side and I will support you through the whole ordeal.”

“Thank you Bitya, you really are my girl.”

*****

“You need to call Khushi…”

“ASR…”

“Call her and tell her.”

“Are you sure?”

“Just do it before I change my mind.”

Aman took his phone out of his pocket and dialled Khushi’s number. She answered after the first ring.

“Aman ji?”

“Bhabi, there’s been a problem.”

“What’s wrong?”

“ASR’s been arrested…”

Scars ~ Part 36

“Please explain to me what was the point of all that? What did you get out of it all. Khushi didn’t come with you and you looked like a fool.”

“What would you know? Yes there was no need to go in like that, but I now have Khushi’s trust back and she knows that I am here for her.”

“You need to stop being so caught up about her.”

“And you need to let go of this stupid prejudice! How much more are you going to make that child suffer?”

Garima looked down.

“No look at me and tell me. When are you going to get over yourself and give Khushi the love she deserves. I don’t expect you to love her as your own the way I do, but I expect you to be her aunt.”

“I can’t…”

“Why are you going to punish her for the feud you held with your sister.”

“She looks exactly like my sister! She basically is my sister!”

“But she isn’t your sister! You need to accept that Garima, she isn’t your sister.”

“No she may not be. But she’s the child my sister had with the man I loved!”

Shashi took a step back and Garima looked away. He always knew the truth, right from the start but it hurt all over again to hear it again.

“You need to let go of the past.”

“Never.”

“30 years have passed.”

“And I still hate her as much as ever.”

“They’re both dead Garima, what is the use of hating them both now?”

“Not both, just her. I still love him.”

“You still love a man who never loved you.”

“That doesn’t make a difference.”

Shashi could feel himself starting to lose his temper.

“I’ve been by your side for 30 years and still…”

“Don’t make this about you.”

“No I could never do that, it’s always about you isn’t it Garima. You act like you’re the one that’s always suffered so much. No one else matters. Not poor Khushi who lost everything at a young age, not me who’s been stuck with a woman he loves but has never been loved in return. And then there’s Payal. She’s had to grow up seeing her mother completely infatuated with another man.”

“It’s not my fault jiji stole him from me…”

“She DIDN’T! He PICKED HER. You need to accept that.”

Garima looked away, not prepared to accept what Shashi was saying. She walked away and Shashi decided that there was no point carrying on. She was never going to accept the truth.

*****

“Are you sure you’re okay.”

“Of course I am Arnav. Not for a minute do I believe anything that they had to say in the newspaper. I know you wouldn’t do that to me.”

“You have that much faith in me?”

Khushi took Arnav’s hands into hers.

“I trust you more than I trust anyone else in this world.”

“I love you Khushi. I promise I’ll never let you down.”

“I know you won’t.”

Khushi let herself snuggle into Arnav’s and he cradled her close to himself.

*****

“Payal? What are you doing here at this time?”

“I need to talk to Amma.”

“I don’t think she’s in the mood to talk today.”

“I figured that much, but I still really need to talk to her.”

Shashi led Payal into the house and called for Garima.

“Arre, Payal?”

“I need to talk to you Amma.”

“What is it dear?”

“I need you to accept Khushi. She’s finally getting the happiness she deserves, she needs you to accept her.”

“Payal…”

“No Amma, you need to.”

“I can’t.”

“Amma…”

“For goodness sake Payal, I’m your mother and you cannot question my behaviour.”

“I have always respected your wishes Amma, I have never done anything against your wishes, but today… I will not. If you do not accept Khushi, I will walk out of this house and I will never come back. Today you decide, I can leave here, but you will know that you have two daughters, or I can leave and you will have no daughters. It’s your choice.”

Garima looked at her daughter, unable to take the audacity of what she was saying.

“How dare you! Who do you think you are?”

“I am your daughter. And I’m telling you, you accept Khushi or that’s it.”

“Fine. Get out. Leave. Don’t come back. I will never, EVER accept that girl.”

Payal staggered back, it felt like she had been shot. How could her mother speak to her like this. Tears prickled in Payal’s eyes, but she remained strong. Payal shook her head, feeling disgusted. How could her mother be like this? How could she carry on being so hard?

“Payal bitya…”

“Babuji, I will speak to you again soon…”

With that Payal left and Shashi shook his head. He was fuming. There was a limit to everything and Garima had crossed the line like nothing ever before.

“There is a limit to everything! How dare you speak to our daughter like that.”

“Did you not hear how she was speaking to me.”

“Yes, Payal was wrong, maybe she shouldn’t have said what she said, but you have to understand, all her life you have been nothing but hard and careless towards Khushi. She loves Khushi like her own sister, and to see her mother reacting like this, it was breaking her heart.”

“Everything comes down to Khushi. Every problem, every pain. Now she has taken my daughter away from me too.”

“No Garima, she hasn’t. You managed to lose your daughter on your own. And now, you’re going to lose your husband too.”

Garima’s head snapped to Shahi and she looked at him confused.

“I’m sorry. I can’t do this any more. All these years, I thought one day you would learn to forget the past and you’d learn to love me. But looking at your actions today, I don’t see that happening. Garima… We have spent all our lives together, but not as one as we should have done. We have been two individuals trying to make a doomed relationship work. I’ve had enough… I want a divorce.”

Scars ~ Part 35

“We’ve already eaten, we’re here to take Khushi.”

“Take Khushi?”

Arnav got to his feet and so did Khushi. The rest of the Raizada’s followed suit. Arnav approached Shashi and looked at him confused.

“Mausaji, why are you here to take Khushi all of a sudden?”

“Have you seen today newspaper?”

Arnav shook his head and looked to the other members of the family who also shook their heads. Shashi handed Arnav the paper.

“What am I looking for?”

“Open it, you’ll see.”

Arnav slowly started opening the pages and there he saw, almost right at the front with a large image, was him and Sheetal kissing.

“This isn’t what it looks like.”

Khushi moved forward and looked at the paper over Arnav’s shoulder. She saw what he was looking at and fell back slightly.

“Khush,  I promise it’s not what you’re thinking.”

“What happened?”

Arnav explained what had happened and he made it clear that he had pushed Sheetal away as soon as it had happened. Khushi nodded, it was evident that Sheetal had a thing for Arnav and it made sense that she’d do something like this to split them up. Shashi however was not convinced.

“Read the article Khushi.”

Khushi took the paper and began to read.

*Last night at one of the grandest hotels in the city, business tycoon and fashion house god, Arnav Singh Raizada was partying with university friends. But what started as an innocent party with friends soon became a tale involving deceit and adultery.

Arnav Singh Raizada (24) of AR Designs has a lot going for him. Money, fame, fans and women. Recently we had reported that Arnav Singh Raizada had announced that he had tied the knot with a beautiful, yet unknown young lady. Our readers have waited for their story to be released, but nothing yet is known. Everyone had believed that Raizada had settled down, however it seems that is not the case…*

“What kind of newspaper is this! Why do people care if…”

“It’s about one of the richest men in the country, even the most formal and professional newspapers swoop up on any gossip related to Arnav, keep reading beta.”

“Mausaji this is all rubbish. It’s all lies.”

But Khushi carried on reading any way.

*At the party that Raizada was attending was a young woman named Sheetal Kapoor who is a said friend of Arnav’s from years before. After the party had started, we witnessed Raizada and Kapoor doing a very sexy dance…*

Khushi looked up and raised an eyebrow. But she turned back to the paper.

*Moments into the dance, we saw Raizada and Kapoor sharing a passionate kiss (pictured above). Kapoor struggled and broke free from Raizada and called the party to an end.*

“LIES! I pushed her away and I was the one to have ended the party.”

Khushi dismissed Arnav and carried on reading.

*At this point of course we also had to leave, however we got in touch with Miss Kapoor later in the evening and asked her about whether she would like to comment. Miss Kapoor said she was horrified when Arnav made a move on her and that she could not believe that she let that happen. She said it was their private business however people should know that this was not the first time Arnav had done something like that to her and that she believed that he was quite a predatory character. She further said that she had knowledge of the fact that Arnav was in numerous relationships with other women despite being married to a lovely lady. Sheetal said that she does not believe that the wife of Arnav Singh Raizada should have to put up with a husband that evidently was not loyal to her.

Is Arnav Singh Raizada really a man with numerous women on the side, we assure you we will find out for you, so keep an eye on this spot.*

Khushi lowered the paper and looked to Arnav.

“I swear on my life Khushi its all lies. You know I don’t need any other woman other than you. You are my life Khushi, its all lies. Sheetal’s doing this to get back at me for rejecting her. And all the nice things she said about you in that, Khushi you have to know it’s all lies.”

Khushi nodded, but Shashi wasn’t having it.

“Khushi bitya, I know I have no place to say this, but do you truly believe it’s all lies.”

“I do mausaji, I know Arnav, he wouldn’t do that to me…”

The whole family looked on, not entirely sure of what was going on, or what was going to happen next.

“I understand what you are saying Khushi, but…”

“Mausajii, I appreciate you coming here in such a protective manner. I appreciate the fact that after everything you still consider me your daughter to take me away from here if that’s what I needed.”

“You will always be my daughter, no matter what happens or who says what.”

Khushi hugged her uncle.

“Thank you…”

“No, thank you beta for still allowing me to care for you and look after you even after everything that happened in the past.”

Garima shifted from one foot to the other, feeling highly uneasy. She could feel everyone looking at her in a disapproving manner. She looked at Khushi and her husband, she looked at her niece, the spitting image of her sister and realised to this day it didn’t matter to her how people looked at her. She knew, she knew that Khushi was evil just like her sister.

Khushi stepped back from her uncles warm embrace and the Gupta’s soon took their leave. As soon as they were gone Arnav called over to Akaash.

“Call our lawyer and get them to file a lawsuit against this newspaper company and that Sheetal. Does she think she can try and sabotage my relationship and get away with it, I will make her pay for this…”

*****

“Miss Kapoor, some legal documents arrived for you earlier.”

“Don’t even bother looking at them, it’s probably just that Raizada suing me or something.”

“It is, but you must take a look before they call for further action.”

“Let them… By the time they can do anything, I would have destroyed Arnav, his name, his reputation and his precious little marriage. Does he think he can pick scum over me and get away with it, not a chance.”

*****

“Bhai the lawyer said the papers have been sent and that Sheetal should have received them by now.”

“He works fast to have been able to prepare the papers in 3 hours.”

“Well you did pay him a stupid amount of money.”

“It was a must, we need to get this sh*t sorted before she can cause any more damage.”

“You’re so lucky to have bhabhi, the way she defended you and didn’t even take any of it into account, she really does trust every single bone in your body.”

“I know, I don’t know what good deed I did to deserve her, but god Akaash she makes me so god damn happy, I just hope I can be enough for her.”

“Bhai, what are you saying, of course you are…”

“I’m not perfect Akaash, I wronged her like no other at the start.”

“Bhai the past is past, bhabhi seems like she’s over whatever you’ve put her through so you should move on too.”

Arnav got to his feet.

“Let’s just hope this bi*ch hasn’t made a mess of everything for me, because if she has, I’ll kill her. If I loose my Khushi because of her, she’ll wish she was never born.”

Scars ~ Part 34

“What the f*ck was that?”

Arnav pushed Sheetal as hard as he could and sent her almost flying away from her. The music stopped and everyone turned to look. Sheetal blushed a deep shade of red and looked around to everyone.

“Party’s over.”

Everyone looked on confused but slowly began to leave. Sheetal looked back to Arnav.

“I…”

“Save it! Was that the whole point of this stupid little party? So that you could make a move on me?”

“Arnav I…”

“How many more times did I need to tell you that I’m a married man and that I like being with my wife. For gods sake you saw me in bed with my wife, did that not say enough for you?”

“I just thought…”

“That you could kiss me and I would drop Khushi for you? Who the hell do you think you are?”

This got to Sheetal, she felt herself snap. She moved into Arnav and poked him in the chest with her finger.

“That’s enough Raizada! That’s ENOUGH! How dare you speak to me like that? How dare you!? What do you even know about your stupid little wife?”

“Don’t you…”

“I’ve known her since we were kids, since high school. She was a little scum back then and if anything she’s more of a scum than ever before now.”

“Wait…”

“Yes that’s right. I went to school with your precious little wife and I made her life a living hell. And you know what, I don’t regret it, not for one moment.”

“It was you…”

“Poor little orphaned Khushi, smart little Khushi. All the teachers loved her. Too bad no one else in the student body ever saw it.”

“Why the hell would you do something like that?”

“Oh she’s told you her little sob story?”

“No actually, she never really told me anything, I found out bits about her past and I asked her and in the end she had to tell me.”

“Everyone gets bullied Arnav, its not that much of a big deal.”

“You didn’t bully Khushi, you tortured her in a manner that’s inhumane. And once you left you passed it on for someone else to do. You made her loath her life. How could you…”

“She was a little sh*t. Always thought she was so clever and could do whatever she liked. Someone needed to bring her down a peg or two.”

Arnav shook his head, feeling utterly disgusted with the w0man that he was talking to.

“You know what Sheetal, you’re not even worth my time. How about you just get your ass out of India and never come and see me ever again because I’m freaking done with you.”

“Fine! I have no reason to come back either. And you know what Raizada, I’m done with you too. And just so you know, you’ll get bored of her, and that’s when you’ll realise what you missed out on. You could’ve had me, but no.”

Sheetal turned her back to Arnav and he decided that he was going to leave. He needed to talk to Khushi, everything made so much more sense now.

Sheetal could hear Arnav leaving and she smirked to herself. As soon as he left she picked her phone up and texted someone. Within seconds, a man emerged from the corner holding a camera.

“Did you get what we need?”

“Yes madam.”

“And the pictures will be in tomorrow’s newspaper?”

The man nodded. Sheetal pulled out a large bundle of money and handed it to the man and he was off.

“This is where I leave. But Gupta, be sure to remember, I will never let you win…”

*****

“Khushi?”

“Arnav? You’re home early.”

Arnav rushed to Khushi and held her in his arms.

“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry Khushi. I should’ve realised, realised the moment she arrived…”

“Arnav, what happened.”

“I failed you as a husband, I should have noticed, should have realised that something wasn’t right but I… I’m so sorry baby.”

Khushi broke the hug and looked at Arnav, tears flowing down his cheeks. Khushi wiped his tears and cupped his face.

“You’re the best husband in the world! What are you saying?”

“I know the truth Khushi.”

“What truth?”

“The truth between you and Sheetal.”

Khushi felt her blood run cold. Did Sheetal tell him the truth or did she make something up and then present it to him as the truth?

“I’m so sorry Khush, I should have realised that you wouldn’t just be like that to someone without a reason. I shouted at you the first day for being rude when really… God I was such a blind idiot.”

“Arnav…”

“You should have told me, told me about the past and what she’d done to you, you should have told me that it was her that started everything.”

“I couldn’t, she was your friend.”

“But you’re my wife and you’re so much more important than she would ever be to me. Promise me, promise me no matter what happens you’ll always tell me the truth, you’ll tell me when you’re uncomfortable and why.”

“I promise.”

“It’s my job to protect you Khushi, let me do my duty.”

“I will Arnav. I promise.”

Khushi hugged Arnav tightly. Everything was going to be okay. She had him and he wasn’t about to let her go.

*****

“Garima! Has the newspaper arrived.”

“Ji haan, it’s here.”

Garima passed her husband the mornings newspaper and handed her husband his tea. Shashi smiled and took his paper and his tea. He thanked his wife and she left to go to the kitchen.

Shashi began to flip through the paper and took in the main headlines. He was reading page 3 which he split his tea on himself.

“Garima! Garima come here now! Come quick!”

“What happened?”

“Look at this.”

Shashi turned the paper around and showed his wife.

“What am I looking at?”

“Look at this!”

“Is that Arnav?”

“Yes! In the arms of another woman.”

“He’s not just in her arms is he.”

Shashi turned the paper back around and looked at it. There was a large image of Arnav and Sheetal kissing at a party. Shashi threw the paper down and got to his feet.

“Garima grab my coat.”

“Where are we going?”

“We’re going to get Khushi.”

“What?”

“You heard me. We’re going to get our daughter home. I’m not going to make her put up with a man like this.”

“Why do we have to get her?”

“Garima. Do you think you would be able to live with a man who was having pictures of him with other women in paper? Think about her for once and not yourself.”

“I…”

“All your life you have been unjust with Khushi. And I let you. Now I am going to be the father she’s always needed and I am going to bring her home so she’s away from that man.”

“You can’t just go and get her like that.”

“Watch me.”

*****

“Arnavvv, get off me, I need to go downstairs and get breakfast ready.”

“Nope, lets just stay in bed all day.”

“I can’t.”

“Yes you can!”

“Let me go now and I’ll give you a surprise tonight.”

“What kind of surprise?”

Khushi placed a light and playful kiss on Arnav’s lips.

“The kind you like the best.”

“Fine I’ll let you go for now, but tonight…” Arnav winked at Khushi and she got out of bed and went into the bathroom.

*****

It was a little while later and Arnav were having breakfast with the rest of the family when there was a loud knock on the door. Hari Prakash went to answer it as the rest of the Raizada’s carried on eating.

“Who is it Hari Prakash.”

“Payal bhabi’s parents are here.”

Payal turned around and jumped to her feet.

“Amma, babuji what are you doing here at this time.”

Khushi too got to her feet and smiled to her uncle. The rest of the Raizada’s also got to their feet and greeted the Gupta’s.

“Shashi ji, Garima ji it is so nice to see you, please join us for some breakfast.”

“We’ve already eaten and we can’t stay for too long. We are here to take Khushi.”

Author’s note: This is where I must leave you today, are we to see some fireworks in the next part or is it going to go down in flames?

Scars ~ Part 33

“I’m so sorry Arnav, I honestly didn’t realise…”

“It doesn’t matter if you didn’t realise. You should have still freaking knocked! Who just walks into someones bedroom like that?”

“I’m sorry, force of habit. You know how I was always walking in and out of your dorm in uni?”

“Yeah but that was before. Did it not occur to you that I’m a married man now?”

“I didn’t think you and Khushi would be doing that at this time of day.”

“We’re newly weds who have just come back from honeymoon!”

“Yes but…”

“Stop making excuses for goodness sake.”

“Okay! I’m sorry! I should have knocked.”

“I think maybe it would be better if you did stay at a hotel.”

“Arnav what are you…”

“You’re a good friend of mine, but maybe it would be better if you didn’t stay here.”

“You can’t throw me out like this!”

“I’m not throwing you out… I just feel it would be better if you didn’t stay here and to be honest with you, I don’t feel as comfortable as I thought I would with having you here.”

Sheetal threw her hair over her shoulder and turned away from Arnav.

“Fine, I’ll leave. I see how it is. Your wife is so much more important to you now.”

“I don’t think you were listening to what I was saying.”

“I heard everything you had to say. You don’t want me here and you don’t feel comfortable with me here.”

“Yes but….”

“Marriage has changed you, you can’t see anything past your wife.”

“It’s got nothing to do with how much importance either of you have in my life. I can see everything clearly.”

“Whatever.”

Sheetal walked out of the room and made her way to the guest room which she was staying in.

*****

“Well, I hope you’re happy Khushi. Arnav’s thrown me out.”

“What?”

“Yes, he’s asked me to leave because of you.”

“I don’t…”

“Oh stop acting all innocent. This was your plan all along wasn’t it, to get me thrown out.”

“I’ll speak to him…”

“Don’t bother.”

Sheetal pushed past Khushi with her bags. Did Khushi think she’d won that easily. She still had one trick left up her sleeve.

*****

“What’s up Sheetal?”

“Well I only have a couple of days left here and I was planning on having a bit of a party for all my friends, will you come?”

“Do you want me to come?”

“Even though I was deeply hurt by your behaviour, you are still my friend and I’d appreciate it if you came.”

“Alright, when and where’s the party?”

“Tomorrow evening, Hotel Grand.”

“Alright I shall see you then.”

“Goodbye Arnav.”

Sheetal disconnected the call and smirked. This was going to be fun.

*****

“Ah Arnav you made it!”

“I said I would come.”

“No Khushi?”

“She said she wasn’t feeling to well and she also said it might be nice for me to come on my own so that I could catch up with everyone.”

“So your wife does have a brain after all.”

“Sheetal, you’re my friend but I really don’t like the tone you take when you’re talking about Khushi sometimes.”

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It just doesn’t feel right seeing you with her.”

“I can understand why you feel like that but honestly she makes me happy and you should be happy for me that I found someone who makes me happy.”

“I am. Come on now, we need to get this party started!”

Sheetal took Arnav’s hand and led him in. Arnav was greeted by a number of people he and Sheetal were in university with. They all approached Arnav and congratulated him on his marriage.

“This isn’t done yaar. I thought we were buddies, how come no one knew about your marriage until there was a news report on you saying you were now off the market. Where were our invites?”

Arnav chuckled and answered his friend Armaan.

“It was a small function and we didn’t want any fuss. Just family.”

“I see, but still, you could have told us that you were going to get married.”

“I’m sorry Armaan. You know how it is, last minute rush and everything.”

“Yeah I understand. Didn’t you bring your wife with you, it would have been great to meet her.”

“She wasn’t feeling to well and so didn’t come. But we were planning on having a little party of our own soon, so you should definitely come along to that.”

Sheetal was stood on the side, tapping her foot impatiently. She then walked between Arnav and Armaan and excused Arnav.

“Dance with me.”

“I don’t really dance Sheetal.”

“You have to otherwise I won’t forgive you.”

Arnav laughed and offered his hand to Sheetal. She took it happily and they moved to the dance floor. Arnav made sure that there was a respectable distance between himself and Sheetal because at the end of the day, he was now a married man and the only woman he only wanted near himself was Khushi.

Sheetal kept moving in, trying to get close to Arnav but he was vigilant. He made sure the distance between them was as much as it could possibly be without seeming to awkward. Sheetal noticed he kept moving away and kept getting annoyed.

“Arnav, when two people are dancing together, they have to stand close to each other.”

“We’re fine where we are.”

“Marriage made you boring Arnav. I remember when you used to get as close as you possibly could and you’d dance in the most sexy way possible. You’d always grind your body against mine.”

“That was before, in my early 20’s when we were still in uni. I’m a different person now.”

“You’re boring now.”

“Oh well.”

Sheetal was getting more and more annoyed at how Arnav wasn’t affected by what she was saying. Normally if he was called boring, he’d do anything possible to prove that he wasn’t. That was her way of always getting her way. But today, he wasn’t being affected at all. Sheetal looked over her shoulder and saw a man closing in on them. She nodded to him and then turned back to Arnav.

She moved into him and placed a hand on his cheek.

“You know Arnav. I’ve always liked you.”

“I’ve liked you too, that’s why we’re friends.”

“No I mean I’ve always liked you as more than a friend.”

Arnav tried to move himself out of Sheetal’s arms and tried to put distance between them. But Sheetal’s grip on him didn’t loosen.

“Sheetal this a highly inappropriate conversation.”

“You have to let me express my feeling.”

“I’m a married man and I’m happily married. Nor would I be able to accept your feelings nor could I do anything about it.”

“Your wife isn’t here what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.”

She held his upper arm and moved into him. She held him tightly. Arnav struggled and tried to break away from her but she wasn’t about to let him go.

Sheetal moved in and kissed him, bang on the lips…

Scars ~ Part 32

Khushi got home from college and put all her stuff down. She was going to talk to Arnav, explain why she reacted badly when she saw Sheetal and address her fears that Sheetal may try to cause problems. Arnav would understand, after all, in a short period of time they’d already been through so much together and Arnav wanted to be there for her.

Khushi went up to her bedroom and freshened up. She had no idea how to speak to Arnav but she had to do it.

*****

It was coming up to 11 in the evening and Arnav still wasn’t home. Khushi sat on the sofa in their room waiting for him in her nightdress when the suddenly flew open. Khushi jumped to her feet and rushed to the door. But instead of Arnav being stood there it was Sheetal.

Sheetal looked Khushi up and down and walked into the bedroom and shut the door.

“Well well, look at you.”

“Sheetal please leave. I’m waiting for my husband.”

“Oh didn’t Arnav tell you, he’s had to go out of town at the last minute.”

“What?”

“You don’t know this? Aw you poor thing. Evidently you’re not as important as thought you were to him.”

“How do you know this?”

“He told me of course.”

Khushi picked up her phone. No calls, no texts, nothing.

“I don’t understand…”

“Allow me to explain it to you. You see, your relationship with Arnav is all in your head. Like I said to you this morning, why would he want someone like you when he could have any woman on earth?”

“You’re wrong. He loves me.”

Khushi could hear her voice break slightly, but she needed to make sure that she sounded confident so that Sheetal would get off her back.

“You don’t sound to sure about that.”

“I know he loves me. Now I’d appreciate it if you could leave my room.”

With that Khushi turned her back to Sheetal and Sheetal decided her work was done so she left the room. Khushi went over and shut the door and then called Arnav. His phone went straight to voicemail.

What on earth was going on? Khushi sat down on the sofa again, how could Arnav leave town without telling her? No, Sheetal had to be lying. Khushi grabbed hold of her laptop and decided to do some more work until Arnav came home.

*****

It was 2am and there was still no sign of Arnav. No calls, no texts, no emails even. Khushi shook her head and turned the laptop off and got into bed. She couldn’t help but feel a little bit deflated. Was Sheetal right? No, she couldn’t be. Arnav loved her. Arnav had made her his. Sheetal wasn’t right. No way in hell was she right.

*****

“Arnav! Where were you all night.”

Arnav walked into the room and got changed. Khushi looked over to the clock and saw it was just past half 7.

“Have you only just got home?”

“Yup.”

“Where were  you all night?”

“I was busy.”

“You could have called.”

“What the hell is this Khushi!? I’ve  just walked into the house and you’re on my back.”

Khushi looked at Arnav her eyes wide. He hadn’t spoken to her in this manner in such a long time. She slowly got out of bed and walked over to him.

“Arnav, what’s the matter?”

“Khushi, why can’t you just get the message, I don’t WANT you.”

“What?”

“Oh for gods sake.”

“Arnav…”

“You don’t mean anything to me alright.”

“But everything that happened between us?”

“I just wanted to sleep with you okay! There was nothing else to it. You mean nothing to me.”

“No, no…”

“I think we need to go our own ways now.”

*****

“Nooo!”

Khushi woke up with a jolt and sat up in the bed. She looked around frantically, sweat and tears covering her face.

It was just a nightmare. Just a nightmare. Khushi looked at the clock, it was just approaching 7am. She picked her phone up, still nothing from Arnav. Where on earth was he? What the hell was going on?

Khushi slowly got out of bed, she was so confused. This was so unlike Arnav, he’d never do something like this and then her nightmare. Was the universe trying to tell her something?

*****

After a long day at college and then some time at AR, Khushi was finally home. At the office there was no sign of Arnav and as much as she wanted to ask someone, she decided against it. It was now 5 pm and Khushi was exhausted.

“You’re home Khushi.”

“Ji di. How was your day?”

“Mine was fine, how was yours?”

“Tiring!”

“Aw, you go upstairs and freshen up and I’ll send Hari Prakash something with something for you to eat.”

“There’s no need, I’ll just come down and eat.”

“No it’s fine. I need to send Chote’s food up any way so…”

“Is he home?”

“Yes he just got in a little while ago.”

Khushi nodded, and then excused herself and went rushing towards her room. She pushed the door open to find Arnav sat in the recliner. Khushi slammed the door shut behind her which focused Arnav’s attention onto her. He smiled and got to his feet. Arnav went in for a kiss, but Khushi placed her hand between them and pushed him back.

“Khushi?”

“What the actual hell Mr Raizada!”

“What’s the matter babes?”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

Arnav looked taken aback slightly, but he genuinely looked confused.

“You didn’t come home yesterday evening and you didn’t even tell me anything. I was so worried about you, only the lord knows what kinds of thoughts were going through my mind.”

“Oh my goodness. Is that why you’re so angry?”

Arnav wrapped his arms around Khushi’s waist and pulled her close to himself.

“No! Explain yourself, get off me.”

Khushi pushed Arnav away.

“My phone died and I was called out for an emergency meeting.”

“Was there no way you could have just told me this so I wouldn’t worry so much?”

“I told Sheetal when she came to the office. She was in the room with me when my PA told me that I needed to go. I told her that my phone was dead and that she needed to tell you and she said that she would do.”

“She didn’t tell me that your phone was dead.”

“But she did tell you that I was going out of time.”

“Well yeah but…”

Arnav moved into Khushi and pressed his body against hers.

“Did you miss me?”

“You know I did.”

“Can’t my wife sleep without me any more?” He ran his finger down her cheek and rubbed the pads of his thumbs on her neck. Khushi closed her eyes, letting him touch her. She then snapped to her senses and pushed him hard into the wall.

“Next time Raizada, you personally tell me if you’re going out of town.”

Arnav looked at Khushi, who evidently wasn’t impressed and couldn’t help but smirk.

“Please explain to me why you’re smirking.”

“You look so hot when you’re angry. It’s a real turn on to watch.”

“God damn you Arnav.”

Khushi pressed her lips onto Arnav’s in a passionate kiss. Her hands roamed his body in a restless manner and she undid the buttons of his shirt. Arnav broke the kiss.

“Well well, does anger make you extra horny?”

Khushi raised her eyebrow at him and then went back to kissing him. Arnav chuckled but kissed her back, undoing her clothes.

*****

“Mmhh, ah harder Arnav.”

Arnav gave it to Khushi, harder, faster, the intensity building to the point of ecstasy. They were almost there when the door flew open. Arnav covered himself and Khushi with the blanket.

“What the f*ck!”

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry Arnie.”

Sheetal quickly turned her back to Arnav and Khushi and felt her face heating up.

“GET OUT!”

Sheetal rushed out of the room, slamming the door behind herself. This was way more serious than she thought. Arnav and Khushi… Did that?

Scars ~ Part 31

“You should just leave Khushi! Arnav could never love someone like you any way, you’re not his type.”

Khushi’s eyes snapped up to meet Sheetal’s. She could feel anger starting to boil within her.

“What the hell do you know about my relationship with my husband? You know nothing about us. So how about you just be a good friend to him and stay out of our business.”

“Aw has someone got a little bit brave now? Khushi, you forget, if I could make your life hell when you were 14, I can still make your life hell.”

“I’m not that weak little kid any more.”

“I know, you suddenly think you can speak back to me, don’t forget, I’m still 50 times the person you’ll ever be.”

“You can’t bully me any more.”

“Honey, I don’t need to do anything. I just need to tell your husband about how you’re scum and watch how he’ll drop you.”

With that, Sheetal pushed past Khushi. Khushi watched her walk away, her words ringing in her ears. Surely she wouldn’t say anything to Arnav? But even if she did, what did it matter? Arnav knew about Khushi’s past and about all the crap that bullies had put her through and he cared for her. Surely even if Sheetal said anything, Arnav would have Khushi’s back. Khushi’s mind was put at ease and she thought of her relationship with Arnav. Maybe before, if Sheetal said anything, he may have been different. But now, they’re relationship was strong enough to deal with anything.

Khushi put all the thoughts aside and began to gather her things so that she could leave for college.

*****

Khushi arrived to college and to her delight was greeted by Lavanya and Raj. Lavanya rushed forward and hugged Khushi and Raj hung back simply smiling.

“Finally! You’re back! I was going mad with just him.”

“Why? Where are Amrita and Tom?”

“Ohhhh of course we need to fill you in about all of that stuff.”

Lavanya linked arms with Khushi and they began making their way towards the canteen. Raj shook his head and laughed and followed the girls.

“So basically, Amrita broke up with Tom.”

“What? Why?”

“He was flirting with some other girl and she saw and he denied it and she got mad and said she was done with him.”

“Oh wow.”

Khushi, La and Raj pulled out chairs and sat down at a table in the canteen.

“So yeah. They’re both in their own worlds now and it’s just been me and Raj the whole time. But that’s minor. How was your honeymoon!”

Khushi blushed and looked away shyly. Lavanya looked to Raj and raised an eyebrow. Raj nodded and got to his feet.

“I’ll see you at AR tomorrow Khushi! I’ve got to go and do some work now.”

“Bye Raj.”

Raj left and Lavanya got Khushi’s attention back again.

“So he’s gone now. Tell me everything!”

“What do you want to know?”

“EVERYTHING!”

“You’re going to have to specify.”

“What did you guys do?”

“We went and saw all the different sites in Paris, we went shopping, we went to all these different restaurants. La, it was the best time I’ve ever had!”

“Was he good to you?”

“He was amazing La, he treated me like a princess and he took care of my every little need.”

“So are you guys all good now?”

“Better than we’ve ever been!”

“Did you guys…”

“Did we what?”

“Did you guys, you know, do it?”

Khushi knew she should feel shy, but this was La, her best friend, the first person in years who made her feel like she was wanted.

Khushi looked down and nodded. Lavanya squealed out in delight and hugged Khushi.

“How was it! Did it feel good?”

“Laaa! That’s personal!”

“Tell me na! I’ll tell you when I get married! You tell me now.”

“It was amazing.”

Lavanya wanted to pry further but it was evident that Khushi wasn’t going to spill the truths about the honeymoon any more than she already had done so. They made small talk about things that had happened around college and then realised it was time to head off to their lesson.

*****

Throughout their lesson, La could tell that Khushi was highly preoccupied and so decided to address it at the end of the session.

“Khush, what’s up?”

“Nothing, why do you ask?”

“Khushi I know something’s up. You were so super quiet in lesson and you weren’t even taking down notes or anything. Come on tell me what’s on your mind.”

Khushi began to tell Lavanya about Sheetal. She told her about her past and everything that had happened before and what Sheetal had said to her today.

“Tell Jiju! Khushi this bi*ch sounds dangerous and she’s messed with you before. Jiju loves you and everything but you need to make sure that she doesn’t cause any hiccups for you guys.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes! You need to tell him she’s trying to blackmail you.”

“Alright, I’ll tell him tonight.”

“Make sure you do Khushi, do it before she has the chance to make up some rubbish.”

*****

“Arnie!”

“Sheetal? What are you doing here?”

“I thought I’d come and see you at work.”

“You didn’t have to, I was going to come home in a bit.”

“I know, but I thought I’d stop by and just speak to you because at home everyone’s around and I can’t get you alone.”

Arnav laughed and turned back to his laptop and Sheetal took a seat opposite him.

“So tell me Arnav, how come I didn’t hear about your marriage until a couple of weeks ago?”

“Long story!”

“I have time.”

“Lets just say I was an idiot to start with and didn’t get round to making it official.”

“I can understand why.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, it’s obvious what must have been going through your head when you got married, it doesn’t take a genius to figure that you didn’t want to marry her.”

“Damn is it that obvious?”

“Yes. Arnie, so what’s the plan?”

“What plan?”

“To make her want to break off the marriage with you?”

“What?”

“Oh Arnav. It’s evident. Di and Nani must have forced you to marry her and now you’re stuck in a relationship you don’t want. But at the same time you don’t want to say anything and end it yourself because you’re worried about the effects it will have on your relationship with your sister. I get it Arnie! But don’t worry I’m here now and I’ll help you.”

Arnav looked at Sheetal his eyes wide with shock. Admittedly that is how he had felt at one point, but how did she know all this?

“Sheetal? How do you know I’d feel this way about my relationship with Khushi?”

Sheetal leaned across the table and placed a hand on Arnav’s arm.

“I know you Arnav.”

He pulled his arm away from her and stood up.

“Look everything you have said is correct, but this is how I felt before, I don’t feel like that any more.”

Sheetal too got to her feet and made her way round to Arnav and put her hands on his shoulders.

“Arnie, it’s okay. I understand how you feel, you don’t have to lie to me I won’t judge you.”

“Listen, La I know you mean well, and I know what you’re saying, but I’m being serious, I love Khushi now and I want to spend the rest of my life with her now.”

This stumped Sheetal. She was so sure Khushi was just saying that she and Arnav had a good relationship to get at her. But here it seemed Arnav really did want Khushi.

“So you are happy then Arnie?”

“I’ve never been happier.”

And with this Arnav went back to his work. Sheetal got up from her chair slowly, her mind working overtime.

“There is no way in hell I’m going to allow Khushi to be happy with Arnav.”
