Their movie had ended and Arnav and Khushi were now making their way to the hotel where they would have dinner. Khushi was sitting beside Arnav and couldn’t help but steal glances at him.
After they had shared a long hug during intermission, Khushi had gone back and sat very close to Arnav while they were watching the rest of the film. One reason was because the creep Rahul was still eyeing her lustfully. But the main reason was to be close to Arnav.
Now during the drive to the hotel, Khushi kept stealing glances at Arnav. He was good looking, very good-looking. And he smelt divine.
“Were here.”
“Oh.”
Khushi pulled herself out of the trance she was under and smiled. Arnav got out of the car and then he went round to help her out. Khushi took Arnav’s hand and got out of the car slowly. She took extra long, just so that she could hold his warm hand for longer. She got out and let go of him and they made their way into the hotel.
“Good evening sir.”
“Good evening.”
“Name?”
“Mr and Mrs Arnav Singh Raizada.”
“Right, table 10 then.”
The waiter left from behind the desk and showed them to their table. It was a lone one with lots of little lights, creating a highly romantic atmosphere. However Khushi wasn’t really paying attention to the decorations, her mind was still on what Arnav had said.
“Mr and Mrs Arnav Singh Raizada?”
Arnav noticed Khushi in deep thought. The waiter left them with menus and said that he would return in 10 minutes to take their order.
“What’s the matter Khushi?”
“Nothing, I…”
Khushi looked at Arnav.
“No, I know when there’s something on your mind Khushi. What’s the matter?”
“It’s just, when the man asked for our name, you said Mr and Mrs Arnav Singh Raizada.”
“Oh, that.”
Arnav mentally cursed himself.
“It was a mistake. When I was making the reservation I said to them it was Arnav Singh Raizada and Khushi. I guess they must have assumed that you were my wife or something because when the man repeated it to me he said Mr and Mrs Arnav Singh Raizada. I did correct him, but he said that it wouldn’t make much of a difference so we left it.”
“Oh.”
Khushi looked down and pretended to be reading the menu. To be honest she was feeling slightly disappointed. For a crazy moment she really did think that she and Arnav were married.
“I’m sorry for the confusion Khushi.”
”It’s ok. Really it is.”
Khushi looked away again and then a moment later looked at Arnav again.
“Do you care about me Arnav?”
“Of course I do!”
“How much do I mean to you.”
“You’re my friend Khushi! You mean a lot to me.”
“Just friend?”
“Well best friend!”
Khushi smiled and nodded her head. The way she felt about him was wrong. The attraction was wrong. He didn’t care about her in that way. She was just a friend. And she really couldn’t say anything about her own feelings because she didn’t know what she felt for him. Just because he was warm, smelt nice and made her heart beat speed up, didn’t mean she loved him. Did it? Indeed she liked him, but that must be all. After all she hadn’t known him for long. Well she had but all past memories were gone.
Khushi continued to think about her feelings for Arnav and decided that she was wasting her time thinking about things like that. Arnav would never want a girl like her. She was average; she was nothing special at all. A man like him would want the best and nothing less and she was nowhere near the best.
Arnav watched Khushi ponder over her thoughts. He coughed quietly to get her attention.
“Should we order?”
“Sure.”
Khushi looked down at the menu and picked out some things, which she thought, sounded interesting and she thought she would like. Arnav ordered the same.
“You shouldn’t order the same as me, I’m just choosing anything out of random.”
“You’re choice is always good, so I don’t see why not.”
Their food took about 20 minutes to arrive and during this time they spoke about different things. They spoke about the babies which were soon to join the family, what they could gift their parents of the babies and what could be potential names for the babies.
“I like Aarav and Arushi.”
“I do to.”
“Maybe I should suggest them to di and Jiji.”
“I think we should save them for our… I mean you should save them for your kids.”
Arnav cursed himself again. He knew this would be a hard evening, but he had thought it was because of the fact he would find it hard to keep his hands off her, now he realised it was harder to stop saying things which linked them together.
Khushi smiled and pretended that she didn’t notice his slip up. Her thought went into over drive once more.
“He said our kids. Well he didn’t say it, but he was going to! What does that mean though? Does it mean he wants to have a future with me?”
Arnav noticed her in deep thought once more and got up.
“Before the food comes, I’ll quickly go to the bathroom. I’ll be back in 2 minutes.”
Khushi nodded and Arnav left. Arnav rushed into the bathroom and pulled his phone out. He dialled the first person he could think of.
“Nanav mera Bhai! Why are you calling me when you are on a date!?”
“NK I need dating advice!”
“I suggest you do.”
“Do what?”
“Kiss her.”
“I’m not going to kiss her!”
“But if you do, you will be guaranteed a second date!”
“I AM NOT GOING TO KISS HER!”
“Nanav mera Bhai, it isn’t anything gross, it’s a lovely feeling, kissing a girl.”
“You fool, I know how it feels. I’ve been married for a year, I’ve kissed my wife plenty of times during that period.”
“If you don’t want advise on kissing what do you want my help for? Wait, Nanav, you’re not planning on… Are you?”
“Am I what?”
“Are you planning on bedding her?”
“NK have you actually gone crazy!?”
“Well are you?”
“NO!”
“Again Nanav its nothing disgusting. I personally don’t know how it feels to do it, but I have heard it’s the best feeling in the world.”
Arnav shook his head.
“It is the best feeling in the world.”
“Wait, does that mean you and Khushi Bhabi have done it!?”
“Of course we have! We’ve been married for a YEAR you know. Did you really expect me to become a monk and not touch my utterly sexy wife at all?”
“Nanav, too much information now. Just tell me why did you call?”
“You’re a flirt right?”
“Of course I am.”
“Well what do you talk about on a date, because so far I have said all the wrong things.”
“That’s easy, just talk to her, about herself. Make her feel special, praise her.”
“That’s it?”
“Pretty much.”
“That’s all you have to do. Really NK? Is that all you do on a date?”
“Yup.”
“And the girls love you because you praise them?”
“Pretty much.”
“Wow. Ok NK thanks for your help, I’ve got to get back to Khushi.”
“One last thing. Please kiss her!”
Arnav smirked and looked in the mirror.
“We’ll see.”
NK chuckled and Arnav disconnected the call. He took in a deep breath and then went back out. He reached their table and saw Khushi sitting with a glass of juice looking extremely bored.
“Sorry Khushi. Took longer than I thought I would.”
“It’s ok.”
“The food hasn’t arrived yet?”
“No.”
“Did I tell you, you look beautiful today?”
Khushi blushed.
“Yes you did say and thank you again. You’re looking very handsome yourself Mr Raizada.”
“Why thank you.”
Arnav looked into Khushi’s eyes. She blushed and looked down. When she looked up again, he was still staring at her.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Because you are the most beautiful girl I have ever set my eyes on.”
Khushi blushed but before either could say anything their food came. Khushi slowly began eating her sweet and sour prawn and vegetable soup.
“This is really nice.”
Arnav had a bit and nodded in agreement. They then went onto eating their main course. Khushi enjoyed the chicken and the roast vegetables. Finally they came to their desert, which was chocolate cake.
“I love chocolate cake!”
“I know you do!”
Khushi began devouring her cake and Arnav ate his sugar free version of his desert. Arnav looked over the table and shook his head. He leaned forward and touched the side of her lips. Khushi stopped everything and looked at him, her eyes wide. He rubbed her lips with his thumb and then pulled away.
“You had cake on the side of your lips.”
He licked his thumb.
“It’s delicious.”
Khushi blushed and looked away.
*****
They were practically home now. Khushi had enjoyed their time at the hotel and their meal had been deeply satisfying. They pulled up in front of the house and Arnav parked his car. He got out and then walked round to Khushi’s side and helped her out.
“I enjoyed this evening. I felt it went rather well, even though we did have two creeps bothering you. I thought it went quite well.”
“I agree. It was nice. Thank you.”
Arnav looked at her, unsure what his next move should be. NK words played in his mind. He could practically hear NK right now.
“Just kiss her Nanav.”
Arnav stepped forward and took hold of both of Khushi’s hands. She looked at him slightly confused, unsure of how she should react. Arnav looked straight into her eyes and then moved it. He leaned down slightly and angled his head. Taking his time he moved in, giving her enough time to realise what was going on and if she wanted to, to pull away. But Khushi remain standing where she was, she closed her eyes and felt Arnav’s lips gently touch hers. He pressed their lips together lightly and kissed her. It was probably one of the lightest kisses they had ever shared. After a short while, Arnav pulled away.
